On March 17, head of Osen Medicine attended “Jingkids International School Expo 2019, Shanghai”. With the theme of “education beyond school choice”, 45 renowned international schools, bilingual schools and kindergartens in Shanghai participated in the expo, and four education forum and one reading workshop was successfully held.

Education Forum

The theme of  principal forum is “The innovation and continuity in education”. 

During the forum, Gloria Gong,principal of ECNU Affiliated Bilingual School, David Griffiths, head master of Wycombe Abbey International School, Charles Ellison, head master of Harrow International School Shanghai, Emily Chen, principal of Shanghai Guanghua School talked about their views on education innovation, the inheritance and innovation, and how they will run their schools based on this understanding.

2Early Years Forum

2019 Jingkids International School Expo Report (17 March)
The theme of early years forum is “How to lay a solid foundation for children’s future development”. During the forum, Karen French, director of innovations and special projects from Montessori School of Shanghai, Mandy, senior education quality control expert from Montessori Academy, Conrad Botha, academic director of The Little Urban Center Educational Group, Joan McGillewie, head of primary school, Shanghai Concord Bilingual School gathered together to discuss the key of early education.

3Bilingual Teaching Forum

In recent years, bilingual schools have attracted much attention. In the bilingual teaching of Chinese and English, how to integrate two languages, two courses and two cultures is a common concern of many teachers and parents. With the theme of “The exploration and practice at our school”, keynote speakers including Lisa Chisholm, western principal of Vanke Bilingual School, Sophie Che, principal of secondary school of HD Shanghai Bilingual School, Dr Clark Zhang, director of studies of Huili School Shanghai,Chris Zhuang, director of academic affairs of YK Pao School Hongqiao Campus shared their school’s bilingual teaching practice.

4Core Competency Forum

2019 Jingkids International School Expo Report (17 March)
The theme of the forum is “Holistic Education, Multidimensional Students”. For Chinese parents, it has become a consensus to focus on cultivating their children’s abilities that they really rely on in the future, especially cultural understanding and inheritance, critical thinking, innovation, communication, cooperation and other core qualities of the 21st century. During the forum, Dr Zheng Tengfei, director of the curriculum center at Shanghai Little Bridge School, Sam Thurgood, housemaster of Hawking House and head of rugby at Wycombe Abbey International School, Chenjie Su, principle of Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School Qingpu, Benny Zhou, secondary head of science, YWIES Shanghai Lingang Campus explained how to cultivate children’s core literacy from the aspects of science, art, sports, theater.

5Reading Workshop

2019 Jingkids International School Expo Report (17 March)
Janice l.sigrist, the speaker of the reading workshop, is the “great god” of picture books. She has been the kindergarten director in China and the United States for more than 25 years. In this reading workshop, she took picture books as an example to share the methods of parent-child reading for parents.
